We finally went back to WDW! We had not been in a few months so I was itching to get back. Disney's 2013 promotion is "Limited Time Magic", which means that throughout the year they will offer different events for just a short amount of time. For most of the celebrations they only release details the week before.
This week they decided to have "Long Lost Friends Week", which means that some of the more rare characters would be out in the Magic Kingdom. I decided that would be fun, plus it would give us a reason to finally go and see the New Fantasyland.
We woke up early, drove over, renewed our passes and finally went to the park. I want to share several thoughts on the various things we did that day, but this post is dedicated to the "Long Lost Friends."
Right after we arrived on Main Street, we heard an announcement that the characters were on their way out.
The characters were gathered in the hub, and there were long lines. Guests were able to meet the Three Little Pigs and Big Bad Wolf, Robin Hood, Friar Tuck, Prince John, and the Sheriff of Nottingham, Scrooge McDuck and Ludwig Von Drake.
It was nice to see the rare characters, but I am not sure how great of a promotion this was. I know that not every special event is going to be over-the-top, but some of these just seem like a cop-out. Plus, Disney is not releasing many details ahead of time so it makes it extremely hard to make plans to see some of the special events. We are lucky that we live fairly close, but I know several people who are really disappointed to miss out because there is not ample time to plan. Perhaps Disney should list all the plans up front (unless of course they have no idea what they are going to have from week-to-week) so that people can make plans to visit. I thought the point of these yearly promotions was to entice people to visit, but this promo seems like it will just lead to frustration. Still, I am glad that Disney is offering anything at all.
What are your opinions of "Limited Time Magic"?
